Initial ideas are brewing, subject to change, of course.

Pat:

Excerpt: “During the last year whenever we would look for a new stoker, cook, or kitchen helper. The question uppermost in the minds of the Labor Committee and the managers was no longer, ‘Has he the honesty to be trusted with these supplies?’ For the skills while important, could be learned, but integrity could not.”

This book concerns people of different nationalities caught in WWII in China.  Their administration of the camp they inhabited, overseen by the Japanese of about 2,000 people revealed so much about human behavior.
